“MR. RICHARDS? ”Sheppard asked over the

intercom after he’d started the engine.

“Yes?” Chase opened the window between

the front and the back of the limo. The driver

turned around and held up a wad of cash. “He wouldn’t take it?” Chase asked. “Yeah, he did. But then he pulled off one bill

and said ‘Here’s a tip,’ then he handed all but that

one bill to me.”

“Well, in that case, keep it.” Chase received

a startled look in response. “It was his to do with

as he wanted, and if he wanted you to have it, then so be it.” That sounded exactly like something Mathias would do. It wasn’t like he needed the

money.

“Oh, and one more thing… he kept the

blindfold.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Chase told him, then

closed the partition.

He sat back in his seat and smiled. He

wouldn’t be needing that blindfold ever again.

Tonight would be the last time he picked anyone

up in the limo. He also knew the driver was

probably more surprised at Chase’s attitude than

the fact that Mathias had given him a $980 tip.

Well, Chase would surprise a lot of people from

now on, or at least he hoped so.
